University at Carbondale will host the
Motorcycle Rider Program and the Experienced Riders Course at the Coles County Memorial
Airport from April through
October. For questions, please call 1-800-642-9589 or visit their Web site. Tentative dates are being scheduled
now. Classes fill up quickly, register early.

Air Patrol (CAP) Johnson Flight Encampment - Now in its 44th year. Promotes aviation to young
people by teaching them to fly gliders, balloons, and powered aircraft. For

Certification Trials – Police dog trials. Expect 25-40
dog/handler teams from IL and surrounding states. The public is welcome to attend this event.

promoting aviation to young people from across the United States by teaching them to
fly gliders. Now in its ninth year!

4 Coles County Fireworks Display - Food vendors on site. Free
admission; handicapped parking available. Bring lawn chairs/blankets. The fireworks show will begin at dusk. No
personal fireworks allowed. No pets allowed. Shuttles available from Mattoon and Charleston.
9-10 Wings
Program - This FAA Pilot Proficiency Award Program is designed to encourage
general aviation pilots to continue their training. Open to all pilots with a
private certification or higher with a current medical certificate. For
details, contact Gary Stevens of the safety section of the Illinois Division
of Aeronautics at 217-785-5746, or Dale Rust at 217-524-5269. There will be a special program on Friday
evening with Jerry Lay, a retired IL Army National Guard CH 47 Chinook
Pilot. There will also be a Chinook on
display. An evening banquet type meal
will be served at 5:30 with the guest speaker to follow. Tickets for the banquet are $10 and can be
purchased at the Airport Authority office.

28 Air Show 2010 - This is the ninth year for the
Coles County Airport Authority's annual Air Show. The Indy Boys will be
here with their Jet Powered School Bus and back for another appearance will
be the Jet Powered Outhouse. We will
also have monster truck rides and a children’s area. Also performing will be the “Red Star”
Viper-29 Super Delphin and “The Dragon” BAC 167 Strikemaster. These stunning aircraft have it all, smoke,
noise and a ‘good vs. evil’ plot. We
will also have an RV-4 performing.
There will be a Blackhawk and a Chinook helicopter on static display.
